Social networking, Facebook, Instagram, credit cards, ostentation, online ticket purchase, easy contact with friends who live in other cities, hostels, Airbnb, ease of searching hotels and what to do in tourist destinations = BOOM!
Understood? No!? I’m gonna explain.
It was here on my Facebook surfing and cursing the Brazilian leftists when I came across something that had never had this insight before.
We can consider everything in the world has its industry: oil, football, cinema, coffee, yogurt, car, shoe, health, education, and TRIP.
All industries in the world are attacked, whether with studies, opinions, facts, things, envy, hundreds of things, but a well protected and rich and that sucks a lot of our money is the travel industry, this is sneaky, cute, Peace and love, everyone loves, does well, is for personal growth, is for this and for that … is it really?
I can say that I am a guy more or less traveled for my age, without vanities, I always tried to travel cheap and saving a lot, I traveled a lot in Brazil, Argentina 3x, Africa, Middle East and USA (Hawaii, Illinois, and Florida) Only that, I’ve never been in Europe, I’ve always postponed Europe because I wanted to go with girlfriend or with friends in class, and it never worked, or I had no money, or time, or vacation, or girlfriend, or friends, Time and I do not think I’ll have any more so soon, even more with this depreciating price of the dollar or the euro.
But let’s talk about the powerful industry of travel, catapulted by social networks, turning people into tourists from Facebook and Instagram. Seriously, stop to think about the anti-naturalness of the photos, the poses, the perfect inserts, the dozens of attempts to make good pictures to post, the envy that some people want to cause just for being in a different place or chic. It’s fuck.
The society in forces to travel, work colleagues take surreal vacation (where these people arrange so much money?), I see college friends walking boat and yacht in idyllic beaches, putz, I the university was so broken that drank rum because To be drunk with beer was going to be expensive, me and my friends, of course, we went to food court of mall to take 2 copies and to divide a pimp for four people of snacks because the money was little, to pay the account still gave fight!
I have noticed that every month I have a plane ticket from TAM or GOL on my credit card, from 400 to 800 reais a month, sometimes multiple tickets at once, it is a very high account, it is revolting the price of tickets in Brazil, The exploitation of government, the humiliation that we spend being treated poorly by these garbage companies TAM and Gol.
These trips are rubbish, they last 4-5 days, to escape for a holiday, to go to a marriage of someone, to see the family, nothing of fuck thing, first because I lose 1 day to go and one to return, are two days only to Transportation (ah but airplane is only 3 flight hours … that nothing!)
You have to pack up, get in transit, get to the airport early, wait for hours, check in on security, connect, everything, then everything again at the exit, wait for a suitcase, more traffic and arrive at the destination sleepy or tired or with a nap Junk in these hot airplanes and no air conditioning, anyway, I’m tired of traveling on banana and even more so for a few days, happy is that he travels by car even and near and rests right on a legal beach without being raped by TAM and the government .
I am putting in question the theme of “traveling” and the meaning it does for many people. I traveled to the Middle East to finish my college, I had a purpose, nothing to show or show anything. Argentina vacation 15 days, cheap and close and with humiliating exchange on top of the Argentines, it was the first time I felt “rich” or at least middle class, I drank beer in the ballad without counting (something I never did in Brazil, seriously), Then I went back to work for 5 days, the inflation had already destroyed the Royal party there and I spent their normal thing just like here.
Africa was in a difficult time of my life, I was alone and wanted to be even more alone, I stayed 15 days. The only mass trip myself, total vacation type and fuck the world was Hawaii, I stayed 30 days there, I catapulted my English, I used the dollar for $ 1.61 and I bought MacBook and iPod. Basically, at this time I did not earn anything and lived on spouts, but with Spartan life and pooling money, staying in hostels, eating McDonald’s and shopping at Walmart, advanced nutrition techniques (milk with whey protein for breakfast and dinner) Chinese lunch as cheap and large as possible. All simple. Journey to myself.
Now what I see and disagree is people (known) without many conditions, without good studies, without contributing, I do not know, there is something wrong, you know the feeling that people do not fit in that place and so forcing the bar? I would not feel good on a yacht in Monaco, drinking whiskey in Cannes, dining in a fucking expensive restaurant on top of a skyscraper in NY, in a mega pool in Singapore, man, a lot of people are doing it at the wrong time, wasting money from Youth in the contributions, in stupid trips to post in Instagram (seriously, this is my feeling).
I have acquaintances who have bounced back and forth in Belgium for Tomorrowland, mano, goes and back IN BELGIUM! Have you felt it? The guy who earns not even a 5k monthly, is going to spend 5k in 4 days to go to a party in Belgium? It does not enter my head. I’m not saying it’s wrong, I do not judge worth, who worked and earned their money wherever they want, but it’s not for me.
This travel thing is very hippie, has an aura of liberation, modernity, enchantment and growth, blábláblá, and conquers a lot of people, internet marketing is intense, phrases of effect, landscape photos, promotions, dividing in 10x, etc. Etc etc …
All friends traveling. What a powerful and sucking industry. Lately, I’m giving time in the trips, this exchange does not give, and the trip has to have a sense, can not travel just to hit the photo as the guys do, I think the staff lost the notion. I’m staying here. Think about it before you want to travel again. Is it a necessity? Will it serve you or others? Is not it much more for ostentation? If you do not go, save money, stay home, read books, watch documentaries, work out, visit your friends in person in your city or do something useful for yourself and for free.
